Is Facebook for Kids
People across the globe are so anxious to know their friends’ updates and read the variety of activities being posted on the site, and thus Facebook has turned out to be the biggest addiction in the world.

Is Facebook for Kids?
The social networking site may have some positive facts such as connecting with friends and real time communication. But the recent studies show that negative impacts of Facebook are reaching the highest level now. Amidst of all these, Facebook addiction on kids cannot go unnoticed. Like any other addictions, the site addiction causes various psychological and physiological effects on kids.
One of the most important negative impacts on kids would be their valuable time they are wasting before computer. The networking site is a virtual world of 900 million users. It’s difficult to predict whom they are going to talk or discuss things before they sign on to their account. Needless to say, this may make kids confused more so than in real life. Their small brain and short experience may not lead them to proper direction. Children loose valuable time they have to spend in the real world that makes them less connected to the people around them. This can bring down their studies, diet and other important things.
The psychology of Facebook addiction is even dangerous. Researchers warn that the social networking site makes people anxious and excited for long time in a day that can lead to serious psychic disorder such as mixed anxiety. Most of the kids do not get what they are expecting from their friends, they get tensed that leads to even depression. Real life talking only can make our kids’ self esteem and confidence high. Scholars point out that kids addicted to Facebook might have mixed anxiety with depression symtoms. Hence, limiting the site in your home is highly recommended, especially in your presence and avoid allowing them to use the site when your not present.
Physiology changes and health issues in kids sitting before Facebook may be getting worse especially if the kid is addicted. Spending long hours in computer world can cause stress, eye strain and muscle tension as well. Kids wandering in Facebook loose interest in food and further loose appetite that makes their health ill. As discussed earlier anxiety and depression caused by Facebook addiction can lead to various intestinal disorders. Blood circulation level and its variation in kids addicted to computers are much debated recently. However, it is confirmed that kids addicted to virtual world such as Facebook may have higher effects of physical and mental health compared to kids growing up in real world and have real friends.
Carelessness and no interest in studies are another Facebook impact in kids. Kids do not analyze their surrounding as we adults do; they just try to have fun with their surroundings. They think very little of their future or studies; parents should guide them to bright future. For that, kids need to be more attached to their family in their childhood. But social networking sites offer more fun in the virtual world. All we should do is to understand their world and provide them what they want instead of opening the windows of internet before them. You can divert your kids’ focus to more interesting web sites that would help them in their studies.

We should encourage parents to set up kids Facebook accounts and link it to their own accounts. This will allow parents to observe and identify their friends and activities of their kids without having to get their account details and without them knowing that their activities are being looked at.
Parents should be doing their jobs protecting and guiding their kids on what they are doing. especially on the internet. Facebook should be avoided by young kids and teens, there’s so many application that will surely corrupt kids mind and will lead them to social networking addiction.
Anytime teens spend time online they should be monitored by parents. Isn’t it recommended that teens don’t have computers in their rooms? That the computer should be in a family room where parents can keep track of their children’s internet use.
Personally, I feel that tools like Facebook help teenagers get their word out. It gives them the ability to speak their minds in ways that blogs don’t. Being able to communicate closely with fellow teenagers is very important especially in the young age.
Social networking sites are not for kids. Parents should restrict them from joining. When the time cames when they are at the right age they themselves could choose what social networking sites to join.
It can be for kids… but parents need to understand the implications of the new online generation. It’s up to every parents to stay in touch their childrens and see what they are doing on Facebook and provide guidance along the way.
I think we need different level of controls for different ages of kids. For example, for kids of elementry school age, parents should be able to decide which social networking site their kid sign up to, the time they will spend using the internet. This control cannot be achieved by useless controls provided by facebook and some other social network site. If possible kids should avoid using facebook!
Yes the social network site, its a big effect with the children, I think this is the good way for connection with people where we can joint with our friends, and not for very useful and good for children.
Facebook for Kids
I am happy to see such kind of article. You brought out an interesting and wonderful ideas about social networking activities. Parents should be more aware and keep an eye on their children’s internet use. it’s not just facebook that is a concern, but any internet usage!
Facebook is making youngsters to become lazy… kids need to go outside and make friends in the real world. A virtual friends list is not real friends. I guess Facebook is not for Kids!!!
