Our children are online if we like it or not. Chances are extremely high that our children have a Social Network account like Facebook..
As parents we need to know and keep up with latest information about social networking and our children. Following numbers will give us a guide as to what could be taking place with our children at home, in school and when they are not at home.

| About 93% of students have Facebook account even if they don’t have access to internet from home. Chances are that they are logging in from friends home or using a public place like library to access their account. |
| About 41% of the students check their Facebook accounts daily. |
| About 23% have Facebook friends but wouldn’t feel comfortable meeting or talking in person. |
| 22% of student admits to posting unkind messages to their friends. |
| 31% of them receive hurtful things said to them on Facebook. |
| 22% of them indicate that they have been bullied using Facebook accounts. |
| 46% have seen upsetting or bulling messages on Facebook. |
| 30% of them had to delete their Facebook friend because they have been bullied. |
| 41% of them gave out personal information to someone they met online. |
| 18% of them pretended to be someone else on Facebook. |
As parents we need to be prepared for the new era of social networking and the effects it has on our children.
